Chamber Joins Coalition to Repeal SALT Caps

The San Rafael Chamber recently joined a coalition to write to our policy makers in Sacramento to urge them to reverse the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap on deductions for hard working Californians. For years Californians at all income levels have benefited greatly from SALT, based on the 100-year-old premise that our nation’s tax system allows taxpayers to deduct what they pay in state and local real estate, personal property and income taxes. According to IRS data, in 2014, 33.86% of California taxpayers claimed the deduction.
