Marin Sanitary Service Rates for 2020
At their Monday 7 p.m. meeting, the City Council will hold a public hearing and consider a rate adjustment proposal for 2020 for Marin Sanitary Service (MSS). MSS provides refuse, recycling, and composting for ratepayers in San Rafael. The proposed rate adjustment would increase rates by 4.85% over 2019 levels for all ratepayers. This increase includes adjustments based on an agreed-upon rate setting methodology that the City has with Marin Sanitary Service and is based upon an independent third-party review of expenses and revenues. Importantly, it also includes an illegal dumping pilot program to help reduce illegal dumping in San Rafael. The pilot program would include multi-family residential disposal vouchers, a commercial coupon program, bulky waste disposal events, and mini-grants to increase property protection. |
