wfgprofiteJanuary 2016 Spotlight Member of the Month: Odette Boyd
Odette Boyd is a Marin-based representative of World Financial Group, one of the fastest growing organizations in the financial industry. The company’s mission really resonates with her—helping families from all walks of life build a solid future through financial education and a broad range of financial products. Odette is also a very enthusiastic Chamber member.

Which Chamber committee are you involved with?
Two! I’m an Ambassador and recently joined the Education Committee as well. I love them because I get to network and build great relationships with positive and successful people.

Where are you from and what brought you to this area?
I was born in Tacloban, a small city in the Philippines, and lived in Guam before coming to Marin County in 1999. A high school friend who was living with her aunt in San Rafael invited me to come stay with her, and I fell in love with Marin.

    What’s your favorite food?
I’ve started eating as much organic and non-GMO food as possible. But my mom's homemade pancit, a traditional Filipino dish similar to chow mein, is still my favorite.

Do you have a hidden talent?
I like to play electric bass and jam with my husband and two young sons. I have to practice more, but I had my husband teach me a classical piece called Romance because I know his mother likes it.

What was your best vacation ever?
The one we are planning now, to visit Japan next summer. The whole family is excited because my husband lived there for over 10 years and he’ll be a great tour guide.

What do most people not know about you?
I am good at connecting people, and have even done some successful matchmaking. I also have a natural talent for astrology that started when I was a teenager.

Is there a song you can’t get out of your head?
Fallen for a Filipina, a fun and catchy song my husband wrote and recorded for me. It was a Valentine’s Day gift. A film director friend made a video of it starring my sons, my husband and me and put it on YouTube.

What cause are you passionate about?
Right now it’s financial education. I teach free seminars for employees at Bay Area companies and schools, ranging from a law office and a preschool to a car dealership and a hardware store.

    Your favorite Marin destination?
The top of Mt. Tam. It's so beautiful, especially in the summer. My husband and I take our boys up there and it's like we're on top of the world!
