    Time: 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM PDT
    Event Description:
Feb. 28, 2013) NOVATO, Calif. – Marin’s own Eric Gower, aka The Breakaway Cook, presents recipes devoted to cooking with tea from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Fresh Starts Chef Events.
The chef, author of The Breakaway Cook and The Breakaway Japanese Kitchen, shows off his flair for incorporating global tastes with familiar ingredients to create a fresh profile for favorite dishes. His menu highlights tea in delicious variations:
    • Smoked Tea Duck with Lapsong Souchong Salt
    • Rooibos Butternut Squash "Pizzettas"
    • Green Tea Soba Noodles with Spring Veggies
    • Carrot Cookies with Matcha Crème
After living more than a decade in Japan, the chef and instructor returned to the United States to discover a yearning for the tastes left behind. Thus began an exploration that led to his “breakaway” style of cooking.
In 2010, he began a journey to discover the best matcha tea on Earth, then bring it to the United States. His Breakaway Matcha now is served in The French Laundry and other premier restaurants. For more on the chef, please see www.breakawaycook.com.
The ticket price of $55 includes a full meal; wine will be offered for sale. For more information or registration, please visit http://bit.ly/FSchefevents or call 415-382-3363 x243.
The event takes place in the showcase kitchen at the Next Key Center, 1385 N. Hamilton Parkway, Novato. All proceeds benefit shelter and job-training programs at Homeward Bound of Marin.
