Good governance requires that the parties agree on how to share responsibility for organizational leadership. When both the executive director and the board understand their responsibilities and roles, and work together in constructive partnership, an organization can really soar.
In this session, participants will learn the differences between governance and management. They will explore the roles and responsibilities of board members and the executive director, the division of those responsibilities, and the activities that require partnership. We will also discuss common barriers to a great board/staff partnership and examine ways to build strong and productive relationships.
Presenter, David Livingston Styers brings more than 20 years of consulting and training experience to his role as Director, Consulting Services/Senior Board Governance Consultant for the Center.
