Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force

An Initiative of the Marin Council of Chambers

The Marin Council of Chambers Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force believes all
people in Marin must have the same economic opportunities in our community regardless
of age, appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender (identity or expression), geographic location,
nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
We invite all Marin County employers to join us in our pledge of responsibility and
accountability. As Chambers of Commerce in Marin, we will spearhead the development of a
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for our business chambers as well as connect and
support action and education in the greater business community. We also demand fair
treatment, provide resources and opportunity for the advancement of all.

What We Believe
★ We believe that diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives bring the vision and
skill sets necessary to innovate and address complex business issues and improve
communities as a whole.
★ We believe that our influential voices can foster workplace environments that increase
diversity, and promote justice and fairness throughout procedures, processes, institutions
and systems for the advancement of all.
★ We believe that by working together, we can identify and eliminate barriers that prevent
the full participation of some groups and strive to dismantle systemic racism throughout
our communities.

We Commit To
★ Listen, learn and deepen our awareness of the impacts and inequities of social injustices,
biases, racism, and other issues affecting the advancement of diversity, equity and
inclusion within our chambers of commerce and the greater business community in
Marin.
★ Promote equity, diversity, and cultures of inclusion within Marin’s chambers of commerce
leadership, membership, and activities and more broadly with the business community.
★ Identify opportunities and institute methods to promote social justice and equity as they
impact our businesses and communities of Marin.
