Donahue Fitzgerald Welcomes 3 New Attorneys

Donahue Fitzgerald welcomes Employment and Litigation Senior Counsel  Kate Friend, Employment Senior Counsel Yen P. Chau, and Intellectual Property and Franchise Law Associate Samantha S. Tran to its Oakland office.

Kate joins the firm from Pond North and prior to joining the firm practiced high-stakes, complex litigation in areas such as toxic tort, personal injury, landlord-tenant, and construction defect. She represents individuals, numerous small businesses and Fortune 500 companies in all phases of the litigation cycle from pre-litigation advice, up to and including serving as a second chair at trial. Kate earned her J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law and her B.A. from the University of Rochester.

Yen joins the firm from Archer Norris and with vast experience in virtually all aspects of employment matters, she defends management-side clients against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, wrongful termination, trade secret misappropriation, and wage and hour violations. Her clients also benefit from her quick and efficient counsel and guidance on compliance with the myriad of laws and regulations applicable to employers in CA. Yen earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law and her B.S. from UC Berkeley.

Samantha joins the firm from California Lawyers for the Arts where she was a Senior Law Fellow. During law school, she worked at Perkins Coie and for the Port of Oakland’s Port Attorney. She currently advises clients on various aspects of intellectual property and franchise law such as copyright, trademark, and licensing agreements; copyright and trademark registration; software copyright enforcement; and franchise agreement review. Samantha earned her J.D. from USF School of Law and her B.A. from UCLA.
