San Rafael Elks Lodge 1108 Camarena Award Ceremony & Dinner Each year the San Rafael Elks Drug Awareness Committee (DAC) sponsors the Camarena Awards Dinner, to honor a local law enforcement officer who has made a significant contribution in the field of drug awareness, intervention and prevention: 2018 Bruce Goldberg, DEA Agent (ret.) 2019 Lori Frugoli, District Attorney in Marin County 2020 Michael Daly, Chief of Probation Dept, Marin County Our Winner for the CAMARENA AWARD 2020 is CHIEF MICHAEL “MIKE” DALY, Probation Department, Marin County Chief Michael “Mike” Daly has had an exemplary career for three decades in creating a balance between public safety, offender accountability, rehabilitative services and restorative practices. He spearheaded the “Wall of Change” Program which recognizes individuals who have made significant positive changes in their lives while being on Probation. In September 2019, Marin County Restorative Justice Program received a $440,000 grant for 3 years because of Mike and his Department’s efforts. Mike is also an Advisor at Opening the World, a Marin Co. nonprofit that helps empower at risk youth through volunteer, leadership, educational and cultural experiences locally & abroad.
