Redwood Credit Union hosts free North Bay Shred-a-thons
to fight fraud and support local nonprofits
Santa Rosa, Calif., June 17, 2026 — People wanting to protect themselves from fraud and identity theft should start with one simple habit: securely dispose of sensitive documents and outdated electronics. Redwood Credit Union (RCU) is helping North Bay residents safeguard themselves through its series of free community 2026 RCU Shred
-a
-Thons. In response to record participation last year, RCU has updated three of the five event locations to ensure even more residents can access this growing community service. These events give residents a safe, convenient, no-cost way to shred confidential paperwork and recycle e
-waste, while supporting local nonprofits that strengthen our communities. RCU’s annual Shred-a-Thons have become so popular that the credit union has moved three of its locations this year to increase the capacity to serve more community members and improve traffic flow for attendees.
“Our Shred
-a
-Thons are a commitment to both our local communities and our planet,” said Brett Martinez, RCU President and CEO. “By helping people securely dispose of sensitive documents, we’re protecting them from fraud and identity theft, while also promoting environmental sustainability.”
