About
I am a grief counselor and am passionate about supporting people to navigate the Land of Loss. My orientation is that grief is not a problem to be solved, but a sacred opportunity to be embraced. My work is strongly informed by mindfulness, somatic inquiry, and the contributions of transpersonal psychology.
Grief is a river that leads to our healing, but we need to learn how to trust its innate wisdom and intelligence. This is not easy because it runs counter to our collective human conditioning to avoid pain at all costs. But authentic grief work invites us to develop a new kind of relationship with our loss. It asks that we learn how to befriend it, how to turn towards our grief as a way of integrating it into our lives. This work demands our patience, courage, curiosity, and self-compassion.
A mindful approach to grief counseling is designed to support you to both deepen your awareness of your unique grief landscape, AND to help you develop the practical capacities – mentally, physically, and emotionally – to navigate that inner terrain.
The grief counseling journey takes many forms because the grief wound has many layers and is multi-faceted. We will use the tools of attention, explorative dialogue, breath and movement exercises, writing practices, silence, poetry, and the deep gift of bearing witness.
Fundamentally, the intention is for you to transform your relationship with grief so that it is no longer regarded as a foe, but as a sacred friend, a trustable ally that can point you towards healing and wholeness.
