Elks Kitchen Cares Volunteers Make Wholesome Bag Lunches for St. Vinnie's
    Event Description:

The San Rafael Elks' “ELKS KITCHEN CARES" Project is Cooking Up 150 Wholesome Bag Lunches MONDAY - THURSDAY, 11:00am - 1:30pm, for the St. Vincent de Paul Free Dining Room in San Rafael, and we're seeking Volunteers and Donations to keep it happening!

Responding to the Covid 19 crisis,San Rafael Elks Lodge volunteers and Elks National Foundation Grant funds are making a difference providing nutritious and delicious to-go meals to those most in need, cooked up in our spacious Lodge Kitchen!

Since the St. Vincent de Paul (“St. Vinnies”) free dining room in San Rafael was forced to close due to Covid 19 restrictions, their program switched to providing take-out meals to over 25 people at breakfast and 250 people at lunchtime.

The Elks Kitchen Cares project is gifting 150 of those brown bag lunches daily to St. Vinnies, at a cost of $2.00/meal to Elks for ingredients. The very tasty meal includes:

    ·         Wholesome Burritos - With Flour Tortillas, Chicken in tomato sauce with garlic & herbs, Spinach Rice with vegetables (Spinach, Onions, Carrots, Celery, and vegetables sourced from the Elks’ own garden), seasoned black beans, salsa.

    ·         Home-baked Chocolate Brownies

    ·         An Apple and Bottle of Water

Three to four volunteers are in the kitchen cooking and prepping Mon. -Thurs. with Project Team Leader Dee Wagner, a fellow Elk and Chef.

We are currently funded for 2,500 lunches with the ENF Grant and from our Lodge Trustee funds – but want to raise additional funds to keep this valuable project running for as long as the need is here in Marin County.

Please consider making a generous donation of any amount to keep Elks Kitchen Cares going and having its positive impact in our community. Every dollar donated goes directly into the program. At just $2.00 per lunch:

    ·         $20.00 buys 10 Lunches

    ·         $100.00 buys 50 Lunches

    ·         $1,000 buys 500 Lunches
