Leadership of Hospice by the Bay and The Redwoods - a community of seniors - have announced a partnership to create and operate a multi-room inpatient Hospice Center in Marin County that will serve adult patients from throughout the Bay Area. A joint effort, plans are underway to create a center with 12 private rooms on The Redwoods campus in Mill Valley.  The Center will be open to adults patients who meet hospice eligibility requirements.

At any one time it is estimated that there are 350-400 people in Marin that are in hospice care; this Center will provide an option for those hospice patients who either do not want to, or are unable to, remain at home.

Over the next year, major renovations will take place at The Redwoods existing skilled nursing facility to update existing rooms and common areas, as well as to create special outdoor spaces such as a serenity garden.

"This is a 'first' for Marin County," explained Kitty Whitaker, CEO of Hospice by the Bay. " We are looking forward to working together to fill a gap in Marin's otherwise robust health care environment."
